  • Gaye is offering a 5-day workshop that stimulates the artist in all of us using simple tools but spectacular locations.

She specialises in small groups to ensure not only a fun time, but an educational experience.

Each participant will leave the mountain (hopefully to return soon) with a feeling of serenity, a smile and a framed piece of art they have created.

Fun learning in a one-on-one & group environment..

    ☑ Creative play & sharing
    ☑ Critical visualisation
    ☑ Art practise & development
☑ A take-home framed, personally created piece of art

** This workshop does have a small amount of walking however the rainforest walk is a very easy walk of just 2 kms return to Curtis Falls waterfall and just a stroll along Gallery Walk. Age is not a factor and only moderate fitness is required for the rainforest walk.

The Creative Arts Experience is inclusive of accommodation from one of our preferred Bed & Breakfast providers (see accommodation TAB for full details).

    Gaye Dell

Painting and drawing are my passion and more often than not there is an element of both in my work. I see the humour in our animals so I enjoy giving them a quirky personality as I see befits them.

    DAY 2

    Morning (10.30am – 1.00pm)

Your morning starts with a delightful breakfast at your accommodation.

After breakfast, make your way to Gaye Dell’s studio to commence the workshop at 10.30am. Don’t forget to bring your walking shoes for the afternoon stroll through the rainforest to Curtis Falls!

In a relaxed atmosphere, you will learn about the principles of design...what makes a great photo or piece of artwork. Gaye will then introduce you to a simple app that helps you visualize your image in an alternate way.

A casual stroll through her garden will provide inspiration, as you capture images, paying particular attention to the principles discussed, for your artwork to be created on day four.

We take a break, and travel over to Green Lane Coffee, to recap the morning’s activities over sandwiches and coffee.

    Afternoon (1.30pm – 4.30pm)

After lunch, we travel to Curtis Falls.

As we enjoy a quiet stroll* through this magical rainforest, we reinforce our earlier design principles by capturing images of flora, possibly fauna, the creek and waterfall.

Once we have captured our further reference images, it’s time to head over to Witches Falls Winery to recap the day over a glass of wine with cheese and crackers.

    DAY 3

Following breakfast at your accommodation, make your way to Gallery Walk, where we will commence the day with morning coffee at a local café. Shortly after, we venture to Tamborine Dreaming and hear from a local specialising in Indigenous art.

A short stroll will lead us to Capanart, where we will meet owner and resident artist Susan Capan. Susan’s subjects are widely varied, from portraits, wildlife and abstracts, to landscape. She paints in oils and watercolour with a strong expressive style.

Our morning will conclude with a fun stroll along the famous Gallery Walk. This will provide a great opportunity to capture some ‘man-made’ images in readiness for the following day of creative practices.

Lunch will be at you leisure, at any of the cafes along Gallery Walk. Choose from any of the restaurants on Gallery Walk for a light snack or a full service lunch.

    Afternoon (2.00pm – 4.00pm)

Following lunch, the group regathers at the Fortitude Brewing Co, where the beer is made locally.

Over a tasting paddle, we share the images taken from the day before, and discuss image challenges of ‘natural versus man-made’. For those not partial to a beer, there will be an alternate refreshment available.

How It Works!
Who We Are

Logo Experience Tamborine Mountain

What is Experience Tamborine Mountain all about?

Experience Tamborine Mountain is an eclectic collection of like-minded businesses that share a passion for the cool, sub-tropical rainforest paradise that lies near Queensland’s capital, Brisbane and behind the Gold Coast.

Using our specialist local knowledge and connections, we’ve carefully curated a varied menu of activities and experiences that will appeal to visitors’ diversity, tastes and aspirations. And, because one size does not necessarily fit all, we recognise the importance of also crafting tailored experiences for special interest individuals or groups.

The best takeaway from travelling is the stories you’ll have and the abiding memories of simple pleasures, of unplanned serendipitous moments, encounters with locals, and even life-altering learning.  We believe in the importance of sharing the little things with our visitors as well as the big ticket moments and look forward to helping you discover them so you’ll have your own stories to tell.

Tamborine Mountain – what to do and where to stay?

Mountain destinations translate to achingly beautiful scenery and views, crisp, clean air, a plethora of local wildlife and pristine forest, and Tamborine Mountain is no exception. Against this glorious backdrop exists a diverse and colourful cottage industry with numerous local artists and craftspeople, a variety of natural and man-made attractions, award-winning wineries, a vibrant cafe and restaurant scene, soft adventure for the thrill-seekers, festivals, special events and country markets.

These are all supported by a host of accommodation options including generous country homes that suit extended family or corporate groups, warm and welcoming B & Bs and intimate couples’ cottages.

What can Experience Tamborine Mountain offer you?

To truly experience and participate in the essence of this special place can be intimate, personal, challenging, exhilarating and even life-affirming. We can show you the main spots to take the pretty pictures, but more importantly, we can help you explore our back streets where you will create a personal connection with our mountain that will continue to touch you long after you leave.

Sometimes the simplest moments during a trip away can provide the greatest memories and experiences – it could be the taste of a new dish, lovingly prepared by a passionate champion of  regional produce; an encounter with a knowledgeable, generous winemaker who loves to share a yarn ; laughing with family as you play a board game at a sprawling farmhouse dining table; the sound of birdsong as you light a fire before breakfast; or simply slowing down and being in the moment, exploring the beauty of an ancient rainforest.

Explore our ‘Experience’ packages

Get to know our mountain by connecting to our history, our culture and our people – authentic experiences, uncontrived, sometimes simple, sometimes adrenalin-inducing; something literally for everyone. We have created these experiences for you, so you can now go and live them.
